This recording was contributed by Danny D'Imperio. While the full background is related in the download, in brief, Danny had been asked to sit in for Buddy Rich when Buddy had a heart attack in 1983. After Buddy died in April, 1987, Danny was asked to take the drum chair in a short-lived Buddy Rich "ghost band" in the Fall of 1987. This recording is taken from a broadcast by the Tokyo Broadcasting System of the band from the Blue Note in November, 1987.
