The record of Swedish pianist Mathias Algotsson is chamber music in two ways. It is quite concrete because the record is recorded at Algotsson's home. In the studio erected in her living room, the music was recorded in a warm and natural atmosphere. Rummutt's quartet's small-scale jazz will also play a role in camaraderie's low-lightness and detail.
Stylishly, Algotsson's music is effortlessly and smoothly flowing with cool jazz. So it represents a style that is not very much played in Finland, but has a strong tradition of decades in Sweden. The quartet appreciates the well-established virtues of jazz, even to the point that the purely presented music cannot at any time surprise the listener.
“Home At Work Again” is therefore a timeless jazz game, where the exact and subtle game of a skillful band is left to the mind. The best pieces of a close album, about 37 minutes long and with seven compositions by Algotsson, are the beautiful Lee Konitz-inspired "From Time to Time," a casually swinging menorah "Copenhagen" and "Jazzlines". However, the most subtle track is the folk-influenced “Attundafolk”, a melodically beautiful melody and interpretation.
