This album is a continuation to their "Jelly Roll´s Jazz" album from 1951 undertaken by Decca in connection with the preservation of great jazz classics and presenting them with all the resources of modern recording techniques. It is the thrid in the series of re-creations mae by the Lawson - Haggart Organization. The Lawson - Haggart Jazz Band has already shown how effectively it can carry on the tradition of the past by recordings of the featured tunes of King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton. The present recordings, like Lawson - Haggart´s previous albums, are not imitations, but reanimations. Here are living throwbacks to Louis´Hot 5´s and 7´s. It was a great era when Louis blazed across the horizon, a period when he had with him such jazz stalwarts as the immortal Johnny Dodds on clarinet. "Baby" Doods on drums, "Kid" Ory on trombone, and Earl Hines at the piano. The titels of the songs make the era come alive again. They are among the freat numbers that Louis´ small band created during 1927 and 1928. Each one is cherished by the connoisseur as well as the ordinary listener; every section is vauluable in musical as well as highly characteristic material.
