Исполнитель: Banu Gibson, World's Greatest Jazz BandНазвание альбома: Jazz me Blues Год выпуска: 1980, World Jazz Records Формат файлов: Mp3, 320 Размер архива: 114 Mb Скачать с: rusfolder On this out-of-print LP, there are seven selections by the excellent classic jazz singer Banu Gibson from 1980, early in her career, and six by the 1974 version of the World's Greatest Jazz Band. Banu is joined by a pickup group of Los Angeles-based Dixieland musicians, including trumpeter Bill Vogel, the great swing pianist Johnny Varro and drummer Gene Estes; the best are Gibson's spirited versions of "Jazz Me Blues," "Happy Days and Lonely Nights" and "Radio." The WGJB at the time was comprised of quite an all-star lineup (trumpeter Yank Lawson, Bob Wilber on clarinet and soprano, Vic Dickenson and Benny Morton on trombones, Bud Freeman on tenor, pianist Ralph Sutton, bassist Bob Haggart and drummer Gus Johnson) and mostly sticks to warhorses, but Freeman's workout on "Crazy Rhythm," Sutton's feature on "The Sheik of Araby" and a pair of Dickenson vocals are somewhat memorable. Dixieland fans will enjoy this album. Scott Yanow
