Honky Tonk Train Boogie is an unfortunate title for a disc that contains excellent performances of boogie-woogie and jump blues recorded in the late '30s and '40s. These 18 tracks feature Count Basie, Louis Jordan, Jay Mcshann, Eddie Vinson, and Pete Johnson, along with the lesser-heard Jack Mcwea, Willie "Long Time" Smith, and Myra Taylor. Highlighted by good sound quality and an interesting mix of hits and obscurities, this is an enjoyable release from the Italian Nostalgia label. ©
