This mainstream swing/Dixieland set features what is called "The Vache & Allred & Metz Family Jazz Band." The personnel consists of cornetist Warren Vache, Jr.; his brother, clarinetist Allan Vache; their father, bassist Warren Vache, Sr.; trombonist Bill Allred; his son, trombonist John Allred; pianist Ed Metz Sr.; and drummer Ed Metz Jr. The combination works quite well, with the two-trombone front line adding to the excitement. Among the standards that are explored are Don Redman's "No One Else But You," "Japanese Sandman," "I Double Dare You," "Come Back Sweet Papa," and even "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah." Novelty value aside, this is a fine swing set, with the horn players being both complementary and competitive.
