Исполнитель: Billy May & His Orchestra Название альбома: Jimmie Lunceford In Hi-Fi Год выпуска: 1957 Формат файлов: Mp3, 320 Размер архива: 86 Mb Скачать с: rusfolder, depositfiles After bandleader Jimmie Lunceford's death in 1947, tenor saxophonist Joe Thomas and pianist Ed Wilcox led the "ghost orchestra" for two years before giving up. In 1957 there was a one-time reunion for this LP that featured some of the Lunceford stars (including altoist Willie Smith, tenor saxophonist Joe Thomas, trombonist Trummy Young and singer Dan Grissom) being joined by studio players for recreations of their earlier hits, arranged in the Lunceford style by Billy May. It is a pity that trumpeter-vocalist Sy Oliver did not participate but this is a largely successful retrospect of some of the musical highpoints of Jimmie Lunceford's career. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi 01.
