Sue Raney's a singer that most folks know from some famous Capitol Records albums at the end of the 50s – yet she's also a hell of a vocalist who really knows how to keep on keeping on – as she does strongly on this album from the start of the 90s! Sue's got a modern look on the cover, but has lost none of the smart phrasing and hip swinging of her youth – and she works here in the company of a cool west coast combo – led by pianist Alan Broadbent, and featuring Conte Candoli on trumpet, Bob Cooper on tenor, and Bill Watrous on trombone! As with other of the best Discovery Records sides from the time, there's a rock-solid quality here that's way more than you'd expect from the lower-end look of the cover – and Raney does a great job on tunes that include "Poor Butterfly", "How Deep Is The Ocean", "Indian Summer", "After You've Gone", "The Man I Love", "My Foolish Heart", and a medley of "Indiana/Donna Lee".
