Actually, seven of the 14 numbers are from 1952 and find Pettiford playing some very effective cello while accompanied by a rhythm section including Charles Mingus on bass. In addition, Pettiford is heard in a couple of groups with accordionist Mat Mathews, trios with either Eddie Costa or Hank Jones on piano, and a jam session on "No Knox Blues" with tenorman Paul Quinichette.
