Mario Rusca has always been considered one of the jazz masters of European piano, he wrote important pages in the history of this musical genre and its evolution. A giant, a living myth!
His collaborations and recordings have toured the world. From his beginnings alongside the great violinist Joe Venuti to the great personalities of jazz history, including Gerry Mulligan, Tony Scott, Lee Konitz, Chet Baker, Toots Thielemans, Stan Getz, Kenny Clarke, Steve Lacy, without forgetting the many top-class musicians supreme like Gianni Basso, Enrico Rava, Gianni Bedori, Tullio De Piscopo.
“Live at il Melo” is taken from a memorable evening in a jazz club in the province of Milan, supported by what can be considered its historical rhythm at least in the last decades: two other heavyweights of the national scene, Fioravanti on double bass and Bagnoli on drums. We immediately realized the high profile of the recording, the special atmosphere of the evening. Abeat carried out a fine mixing and mastering work, preserving all the goodness of the original recording and the magical spirit of the performance. The result is a vivid, powerful album, with great artistic pathos and a high audiophile profile.
