Исполнитель: Louis ArmstrongНазвание альбома: On The Sunny Side Of The Street Год выпуска: 1943 Формат файлов: mp3, 192 kbps Размер архива: 85.20 mb Скачать с: rusfolder.com Other than the soundtrack version of "Jeepers Creepers" and two other items, all of this CD is taken from broad-casts of Armstrong's little-known and unrecorded orchestra of 1943. Much of the music is fairly routine swing, but the Armstrong trumpet (which always sounds so enthusiastic) and features for The Mills brothers ("Paper Doll") and clarinetist Barney Bigard make this rarity of some interest. Live In 1943: On The Sunny Side Of The Street album by Louis Armstrong was released Jan 22, 1993 on the Jass label. This is a wonderful collection of live recordings (and studio-recorded rarities) from radio broadcasts in 1943, a period when the big band sound was exerting an enormous influence on popular American music. Live In 1943: On The Sunny Side Of The Street music CDs Louis is featured with big bands and orchestras rather than small groups. Also showcased are guest vocalists such as the legendary Mills Brothers and the lesser-known Velma Middleton, Ann Baker and Bea Booze. Since these shows were meant to entertain a war-stressed nation, the jazz content takes a back seat to the pop sounds of the day, and there is lots of showy soloing from Louis. But the music swings, the songs are sandwiched by witty and corny dialog, and the line-up includes young heavyweights-to-be Dexter Gordon (before he came to virtually define bebop tenor sax) and Charles Mingus. This may not be the place for hard-core jazz-heads, but if you love Louis and/or the pop sounds of the 1940s, this album (which is sweetened by great recording quality) is a gem!
