Kevin grew up in a very musical family. His mother Vera was a pianist and a respected teacher, had a master's degree. Uncle Ray Bryant is a famous jazz and blues pianist uncle, and brother Robin is considered one of the greatest living trombonists. His younger brother Dwayne became a trumpeter. Two cousins are also musicians, the late bassist David Eubanks and pianist Charles Eubanks. Kevin studied violin and trumpet before settling on guitar, he was educated at a local music school and Berklee College of Music, then moved to New York. Eubanks is a pescetarian, in his diet fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals, egg whites, and fish. In 2007, he was recognized as the "sexiest vegetarian in the world". After moving to New York, Kevin Eubanks began performing with famous jazz musicians. In 1980, Kevins became the first guitarist of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers ensemble, where he stayed for two years, then performed with such jazz icons as Roy Haynes, Slide Hampton and Sam Rivers. Like his brother Robin, he played on recordings with double bassists Bill Dryden and Dave Holland. In 1983, while continuing to perform with other musicians, Kevin formed his own quartet, they played concerts in Jordan, Pakistan, India on tour under the auspices of the US Department of State. His first recording as a leader – Guitarist – was released on the Elektra label when Eubanks was 25 years old. This led to a seven-album contract with the GRP label and four albums for Blue Note. In total, Eubanks has appeared on over 100 albums. In 2001, he founded the label Insoul Music, on which he released six albums. Eubanks has taught at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Canada, Rutgers University, and the Charlie Parker School in Perugia, Italy. In 2005, Kevin received an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music, where he studied but did not graduate. He is a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and an active member of the artistic advisory group of the BMI Foundation since 1999. Kevin Eubanks performed mainly fusion, but in 1990, while working with Dave Holland, he became interested in free jazz. In 1991, he performed in Dave Grusin's GRP band. In 2010, his latest album Zen Food was released. In 1992, Eubanks moved to the West Coast and took a place as a guitarist in The Tonight Show Band. During this time, he wrote the theme song "Kevin's Country" for the closing of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 1995, Kevin Eubanks replaced Branford Marsalis (Branford Marsalis), becoming the leader of the group. He was in this position from 1995 to 2010. When NBC moved Leno's show from late night to prime time, Kevin Eubanks moved with the band to continue performing music for the short-lived The Jay Leno Show. Kevin appeared on a new show with The Band Primetime. On April 12, 2010, Eubanks announced on the show that he would be leaving after the 18th season. His last performance there was on May 28, 2010. Kevin told The Philadelphia Inquirer in an interview that he wants to focus on music, adding that his departure was not provoked by any problems with Jay Leno or NBC. After that, Eubanks began touring with the band Marvin "Smitty" Smith (Marvin "Smitty" Smith) on drums and Bill Pierce (Bill Pierce) on saxophone.
