Kenny Werner has worked with marvelous bass and drum teams before, but the hookup he achieves with his current bandmates is striking. Hear how the trio navigates the shifting time signatures of Werner’s “All Things Are You,” his cleverly reconstituted take on “All the Things You Are” and the variable grooves of Thelonious Monk’s “Evidence,” or molds the perfect hushed atmosphere for Werner’s flowing interpretation of Horace Silver’s ballad “Peace.” ~ Steve Futterman
