Some Western Swing today, by The Jack Mooney Quintet. Mr. Mooney is the latest in a long line of Google strikeouts to be featured here, so I will quote the liner notes in part: "Jack Mooney's artistry on the steel guitar goes back to his birthplace in Winnipeg, where he worked at local dances and radio shows. Later he moved to Edmonton, met King Ganam, and worked with his popular "Sons Of The West" band. Jack later was featured on his own radio show at CJCA in Edmonton, then moved to Montreal, where he played well known clubs for five years. Arriving in Toronto, Jack rejoined the King Ganam band and played steel guitar for six years on CBC-TV's Country Hoedown. The Rickenbacker Console Pedal Steel Guitar, shown on the album front, was specially built for Jack by Rickenbacker, of Santa Ana, California, and is a showpiece wherever Jack goes. Relax and listen as Jack plays it in a sparkling grouping of old favourites." All three songs are up-tempo country swing instrumentals featuring nice ensemble playing, and if you close your eyes, it's not hard to imagine a group of revelers kicking up their heels in a Winnipeg dance hall on a cold winter night. Очень симпатично, спасибо, mihail!
