Conductor, soloist, composer and author of numerous educational works, Éric Barret combines his artistic career with work on the teaching and transmission of jazz as a professor in the Paris conservatories (11th and CRR).
A self-taught musician, Eric is an internationally renowned jazzman who has performed on stages around the world since the 1980s. He has created numerous groups and has notably played with Roy Haynes, Freddie Hubbard, Johnny Griffin, Mal Waldron, Jeanne Lee, Steve Grossman, Lou Bennett, Enrico Pieranunzi, Daniel Humair, Kenny Wheeler, Alain-Jean Marie, Steve Swallow, Pierre Michelot…
For this new formation, Éric Barret brought together two musicians who are very active on the current European jazz scene: Emil Spanyi (piano) and Gautier Garrigue (drums). The repertoire is written by the saxophonist for this trio with unusual instrumentation. Improvisation and interplay, a permanent exchange between the musicians, remain the key words of this orchestra, where, as its name indicates, the music is always under construction.
