Eliane Elias is such a fine hard bop/post-bop pianist that it is a pity that she occasionally feels compelled to vocalize; her singing voice is small, quiet, and unimpressive. However, other than her brief vocals on "The Beat of My Heart," "I Fall in Love Too Easily," and "Blah Blah Blah," this is a strong trio set. Elias interacts with either the bass-drum team of Marc Johnson and Jack DeJohnette or Christian McBride and Carl Allen, with guitarist Rodney Jones just popping up briefly on one song. Elias' playing is often introspective, but always very expressive and she swings hard on the faster pieces. She is one of the underrated greats of the jazz piano. ~ allmusic

"Everything I Love (2000) n'est pas vraiment l'album de musique que j'écouterais si Eliane Elias n'était pas brésilienne. Il s'agit de son quatorzième album. Ses deux précédents albums, The Three Americas (1997) et Eliane Elias Sings Jobim (1998) faisaient la part belle à la musique de son continent sud-américain. Avec Everything I Love, Eliane Elias choisit de rendre hommage aux jazzmen qui l'ont inspirée : Charles Mingus, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Dizzy Gillespie, George Gershwin & Ira Gershwin, et bien d'autres. A noter qu'Eliane Elias n'est pas qu'une simple interprète et qu'elle sait joliment composer : "Bowing To Bud", "That's All It Was" et plusieurs introductions. Sur cet album, elle est épaulée par le bassiste vétéran Marc Johnson et le batteur Jack DeJohnette et les jeunes talents Christian McBride (bassiste) et Carl Allen (batterie).
