Исполнитель: Buddy Morrow Название альбома: New Blues Scene Год выпуска: 1967, United Artists Records Формат файлов: Mp3, 320 Размер архива: 62 Mb Скачать с: dfiles After the post-Beatles world turned to dope, all the old masters had to prove they were still hip, and New Blues Scene is Buddy Morrow's proof. Fortunately, the fuzz-tone guitar is minimized, as are all instruments except Morrow's trombone. You really get to hear the man play on this album, as opposed to his earlier, big-band "Night Train" material. The dominant sounds here come from the relatively sparse, supportive rhythm section and Morrow's fat, unhurried trombone. Arranger Walter Raim provides two originals, which are tacked onto the end and are best left unheard. But the covers are worthwhile mod interpretations, from "The Letter," "Summer in the City," and "Gimme Little Sign" to the less convincing, slower numbers. "Natural Woman" and "Ode to Billy Joe" gain nothing in this context, but fans of Morrow and pop trombone should find the album worthwhile. Tony Wilds, AMG
