Japanese label Marshmallow Records adds another rare Bud Powell jem to its catalog that is sure to please hard-core fans and serious collectors. Bud Powell in Scandinavia includes the pianist's never-before-released recordings from 1962. He was living in Paris at the time and toured the Scandinavia in the fall. This limited edition CD contains three separate sessions.
Some people say that Powell in his later years lacked technique and imagination, and while that is probably true, these sessions in 1962 prove that he was still a great jazz pianist capable of inspired and even fiery performance.
