Исполнитель: Bill PerkinsНазвание альбома: Remembrance of Dino's Год выпуска: 1990, Interplay Records Формат файлов: Mp3, 320 Размер архива: 116 Mb Скачать с: dfiles Tenor saxophonist Bill Perkins recorded his quartet on several occasions in 1986 at the now-defunct Dino's in Pasadena, hence the title of the CD. Not only is the sound that Perkins achieved very intimate, as if the listener was a member of the audience, but the band is extremely tight and adventurous. Sadly, the opener "Bolivia" is prematurely faded, and Perkins also explains in his liner notes that he had to edit some solos to make the music fit the CD. Pianist Alan Broadbent's driving chords inspire Perkins during a percolating "Yardbird Suite," where the leader is not adverse to taking chances in his solo; a lovely "Someday My Prince Will Come" and an understated take of John Carisi's "Israel" are also noteworthy. Gene Cherico plays bass on five tracks, with Putter Smith taking his place on the other four numbers. Recommended. Ken Dryden, AMG
