This little gem is probably the most underrated album in the discography of both Astrud Gilberto and Stanley Turrentine. An unwanted child of an uneven pair, to be precise. The widely known fact is that Astrud disliked the cooperation with Creed Taylor from the very beginning and she tried to cancel the session. She didn't even meet Turrentine (who actually plays only on four songs here) and she left NYC right after the recording without saying goodbye. What's left is 13 beautiful songs arranged by Deodato to absolute perfection and recorded by top-notch
players like Hubert Laws, Toots Thielemans, Ron Carter, Dom Um Romão, Airto Moreira and Sivuca.
Brazilian Tapestry, Zazueira, Vera Cruz and Ponteio have even become CTI's greatest hits. My personal favourite is Burt Bacharach's Wanting Things, just because her voice is so cool..
